The costs of surveys vary depending on the type, the vessel and the location, for example a pre-purchase survey on a 30m yacht would take 2 days with 1 day out of the water the 2nd on sea trials, as a guide for this type of survey would be circa 5,000 Euro + expenses. P & I – Warranty Surveys

This survey inspection is performed so that the insurance company can determine whether or not the yacht is an acceptable risk. They are interested in structural integrity and safety for its intended use. Most insurance companies require a survey, especially on older yachts/boats. They also want to know the yacht’s fair market value and replacement value.
